Bird Beak Bonanza

Bird Beak Bonanza

Isaac from Rode Heath Primary School has been investigating bird beaks. I wonder what fun facts he found out?

Here’s what Isaac had to say:

‘I enjoyed it. Dad and I had fun being birds using tweezers and scissors.  I found out that small birds are better at eating seeds than bigger birds.  I recorded the results in a table.  We experimented 3 times and then found the mean of our results.’

Great stuff, Isaac!

Design a Rocket

Design a Rocket

We love Hollie’s rocket design!

It’s bright, colourful and includes loads of space detail. NASA better watch out - we have a new rocket in town.

Rocket Construction

Rocket Construction

Teamwork makes the dream work! These pupils from Adlington St. Paul's Primary School are working together to create a rocket fit for space. Look at their rocket!

I think we’ve got some future engineers on our hands.

Mouse Launcher

Mouse Launcher

A great mouse launcher from one of Uphall Primary School’s pupils!

Hmm… I wonder if this Mouse Launcher made it all the way to space?

Hand on heart

Hand on heart

This is a brilliant science experiment -

Have you ever thought about how the heart works? In this video Zaynah from @stannespri uses a homemade model to explain it to us. The heart pumps at the push of her finger tips!

Great Space Fact Share

Great Space Fact Share

It was really lovely to see this chat on Twitter today.

Daisy wants to know all our favourite space facts for her home film - why not share yours.

Thanks to @RoyalAstroSoc for sharing Daisy’s question with us - this is what the Great Science Share is all about!

Doughlar System

Doughlar System

Science, maths and art are have all gone in to this playdough solar system!

We’re really impressed with the attention to detail on the relative sizes of the planets - fantastic!

Blow Rocket

Blow Rocket

Great to see so many people making their own blow rockets today. This one’s headed straight out of sight!

Thanks to @DrChips_ for this idea - see more from him and the Great Science Share every Wednesday at 10am.

Solar Oven

Solar Oven

Now this a creative approach to home cooking!

Marthy has been exploring solar power with tasty results. Take a look and have a go!

Ups Downs and Sideways

Ups Downs and Sideways

Great to see that Joseph tuned in to @DrChips_ Live Lesson this morning.

Check out how well his blow rocket flew here!

We know you’ll wan to make your own but if you missed the lesson, don’t worry, you can catch up here.

Consider the Constellations

Consider the Constellations

@Alty1112 pre-empted our theme this week and have already been exploring the constellations. Thanks for sharing these pictures!

We’re keen to give the SkyMap app a go - an evening stroll sounds great.

Rocket Mouse, prepare to launch!

Wow! You have to watch Fletcher send his rocket mouse into orbit! Great fun!

Visit our theme to page to try making your own. What mission will you send your mouse on?

Marthy's Moon Musings

Marthy's Moon Musings

@EdadventuresM conducted an experiment with some moon rocks today…

What do you think happened to them when Marthy added vinegar to these rocks?

Great to see our question frame here. Visit our Question-maker page to give it a try.

Space exploration

Space exploration

These interactive cards are a wonderful way to think about space from home.

We’re sure this snippet will get you wanting to go on your own journey into space this week!

Hand-held Solar System

Hand-held Solar System

Corey holds the whole solar system in his hand! His home-made model looks brilliant - see for yourself.

This a great way to inspire questions and share facts about the planets.

A look back on week 1

A look back on week 1

Thanks to @Martongate_Sch for sharing this lovely montage of their pupils’ experience of week 1 #DawnChrousDay. It all looks wonderful.

What a great snapshot of the variety of questions, investigations and projects we’ve all been sharing so far.

Keep it up everyone!
