This practical Bronze project has been adapted specifically for educators working with SEND students. The resources include a teacher’s guide, supporting slides with visuals to use in the classroom, an accessible student workbook, plus an accompanying Widgit resource pack to scaffold understanding of key vocabulary. Through taking part in the project, young people are supported to make real world STEM connections by considering the best design and materials for a pizza box, first testing existing packaging and then creating their own.
11+ years, adapted for SEND
Duration: 10 hours
Once students have taken part in this ten-hour challenge and reflected on their learning by completing the adapted student workbook, they will have earned a Bronze CREST Award.
CREST is the British Science Association’s education programme, bringing STEM to life for young people. Through hands-on activities, CREST helps pupils spark curiosity, build confidence, unlock potential, develop skills, and gain recognition. All CREST resources are free to download and use. Once they have completed their projects, pupils can receive a CREST Award certificate to celebrate their achievement.
